What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Information Specialist position at City of Round Rock?
Under general supervision, the Public Information Specialist is highly engaged in internal and external communication from content creation to implementation and dissemination of information through a variety of formats.
Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
- Assists in the implementation of a variety of marketing and public information tactics.
- Writes and produces content for multi-media and/or media outlets including articles, press releases, advertisement, newsletters, brochures, and special events.
- Contributes and updates internal and external website content.
- Acts as social media lead for the City’s many platforms; works with content creators and social strategists to execute content that build our brand and visibility; monitors campaigns and actively engages with our audience.
- Works with team to develop a content marketing strategy, execute the strategy and track results and progress.
- Ensures website content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone, and optimized for search and social promotion.
- Assists in the coverage of various special events, including groundbreakings, ribbon cutting ceremonies, and City Council events.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university in Communications, Journalism, or a related field is required.
- Two (2) or more years of creating internal and external communications and/or social media marketing or similar experience is required. Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Valid driver license.
