COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

Duties: Provides desktop support services that include installation & repair of desktop computers & printers for City of Salina employees; installs & troubleshoots all related applications; assists computer users in problem-solving of technical & operational difficulties; operates host computer system; updates peripherals; loads & configures software; configures devices for access to host computer system; maintains accurate & updated inventory; maintains detailed records of installations, testing, preventative maintenance, & detailed project logs & records.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Technology.
Experience: Four (4) years of work experience, preferably in desktop computer hardware & software installation (Windows 10 & Microsoft Office 2010 or higher).
Requirements: Must live within 40-minute response time; must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.
Work Type: Medium, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Machines, Tools, Equipment: Telephone, computer, monitor, tablet, printer, scanner, fax, & copy machine.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; on-call schedule rotation.
Starting Pay: $21.96-23.06/hr. DOQ
Additional $1.50/hour paid for hours worked after 6:00 p.m. & before 6:00 a.m.
Paid Time Off:
48 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 48 hours earned during the year (96 hours in first year).
96 hours of sick leave during first year.
