Responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the facility and equipment. Organizes and directs the installation and dismantling of equipment and fixtures necessary to support events at the Civic Arena; assuring completeness and cleanliness of the facility. Works as event coordinator with staff and clients. Regularly assigns and checks the work of others. Directly supervises temporary employees in preparing for an event or recovering from an event. Assists in monitoring the annual budget
Supervisory Responsibility
Integral to the position of Arena Operations Supervisor is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the maintenance and repair of the Civic Arena and Missouri Theater for overall operation of facilities.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance and repair to HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing.
- Supervises and trains consumers of the arena on use of the sound and lighting systems.
- Interacts with promoters to determine set up needs and schedules for events.
- Coordinates detailed set-up information with staff and clients.
- Maintains preventative maintenance programs for power driven equipment.
- Operates boiler and water treatment program, air handlers and computer equipment for energy management.
- Oversees and assists in the cleanup of the building.
- Monitors maintenance portion of budget.
- Supervises, schedules and assigns work of the Maintenance Technician.
- Responsible for all employment actions (hire, fire, schedule, supervise) related to temporary staff.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedules and contacts temporary work crews for efficient installations and dismantling of various events and cleaning of facility.
- Requisitions needed supplies, materials and equipment for Civic Arena and Missouri Theater.
- Coordinates with outside maintenance providers as needed to maintain the building and equipment.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skills in basic plumbing repair, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC system repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of sound and lighting equipment operations.
- Knowledge of basic electrical (120V/208v/220v/277v/480v-single and/or three-phase).
- Ability to plan, organize and work independently.
- Ability to provide solutions to problems that arise in operations of building and other related areas.
- Ability to supervise, train, provide leadership, organize and evaluate the work of others and to work independently.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and train and provide guidance to temporary work crews.
- One to three years prior experience in related field to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Ability to obtain forklift operations license and Boiler/HVAC System Certification within probationary period.
- Valid driver's license required.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Uses a variety of equipment in the maintenance of Civic Facilities including forklift, scrubbers, sweepers, hand and power tools, electrical and plumbing equipment, computer and related equipment. Drives a light truck/van. Operates sound and lighting equipment. Uses a computer and other office equipment. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is performed under a variety of conditions ranging from an indoor setting with a controlled environment to an outdoor setting with extreme heat and cold. Physical activity includes walking, bending, lifting and climbing. Exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, fumes, loud noise and temperature change. Work involves routinely lifting objects weighing up to thirty pounds, occasionally lifting objects weighing as much as 75 pounds or assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent and three or more years prior experience required; OR any combination of formal education and work experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
