DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs regular and recurring installation, maintenance, and repair activities for city sewer and storm water systems; facilities and grounds. Operates a variety of light and heavy equipment.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in position of this class)
- Uses a variety of hand tools and equipment such as shovels, picks, hand and small riding mowers, cutting torch, drills, gas detector, welders, jet rodder, compressors, air blower, and power sprayer.
- Operates motorized equipment as directed including backhoe, loaders, dump truck, and vactor truck.
- Assist in Inspections of sewer lines, cross connections, manholes and manually or through remote cameras; tests and monitors mains and laterals to confirm connections, breaks, or flow direction. Assist with installs or repairs sewer lines and laterals; backfills, landscapes, repaves as needed. Assist in operating vactor to clean, flush, and restore sewer lines and combination sewer cleaner to clean and flush catch basins and sumps.
- Locates public underground sewer mains and facilities for excavations carried out by city crews, developers, and other utilities. Researches maps and related records.
- Inspects, maintains and operates lift stations; and manholes for poisonous gases.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL
- Any combination equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant the knowledge, skills, and abilities, required to perform the job.
- High school diploma or GED and one year experience in water, sewer and/or street maintenance or general construction.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Candidate should possess a Valid Washing States Drivers and/or Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements
- Applicant must successfully pass drug screen and pre-employment physical.
- At least 18 years of age.
