JOB
Process legal documents related to the filing of citations in the Court. Provide information to citizens and process payments, paperwork and files. Generate, organize, and verify documents needed for trials.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Answer phones, take messages, and provide information to citizens.Handle customers at the payment windows by accepting payments, completing legal documents, and setting appointments.Maintain filing system, pull files for the dockets, and file warrants.Process correspondence for court administrator, judge, and court.Generate and process legal documents.Work with attorneys in handling the paperwork and contracts for trials.Mail out court appointments, summons, notices, and process incoming mail.Mail out juvenile cards to juveniles who have received citations.Summon individuals for jury duty.Enter parking violations.Verify insurance policies and driver's licenses.Make collection calls on past due citations.Must have knowledge of computer procedures.Must have knowledge of general office practices.Must have knowledge of alphabet and filing procedures.Must be able to complete assigned duties with a high level of accuracy.Must be able to understand, read, and write the English language.Must be able to handle people in often time's difficult situations.Must be able to use personal computer/keyboard, calculator, telephone, and copy machine.Other duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

This position does require presence in the office to perform the essential functions of the job. The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree. The City of Tyler supports a policy of a drug and alcohol free workplace. All candidates are subject to pre-employment testing, which may include, but is not limited to, Drug and Alcohol Screenings, Work Fitness Evaluation, Criminal Background Check, and Consumer Report/Credit Check. No person under eighteen (18) years of age will be employed in any regular full-time position.Persons under eighteen (18) years of age may be employed in temporary or regular part-time positions, if they furnish the City with a minor's release (Form 2-2) and are approved by the City Manager.No person under eighteen (18) years of age will be employed in any position requiring the operation of a City motorized vehicle.
