Aqua Fitness Instructors provide specialized instruction in the field of expertise for various age groups in the community. Position levels are based on experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Develop and teach class content appropriate to the course description and level;
Develop appropriate tools necessary to offer quality;
Provide feedback to class participants and proper instruction in use of support materials; Monitor participants and their ability to participate;
Monitor attire to properly perform, i.e., shoes, etc., if applicable;
Provide a safe environment for all participants;
Enforce all general building policies if applicable;
Complete any necessary reports and forms, i.e., Accident Reports, Health Forms, Attendance Records, Supply Requests, etc.
Attend scheduled meetings as required.
Preparation of program activities and lesson plans;
Organize relevant equipment;
May be required to set-up and break-down materials used for instruction.
Responsible for finding a dependable, appropriate substitute upon your absence;
Perform other duties as assigned and perform related work as required and assigned.
Work is performed in accordance with standard practice and methods requiring initiative to complete recurring assignments independently and judgment to determine which of many methods are applicable in any given situation. Finished work is reviewed for accuracy, quality and completeness. Unfamiliar situations are referred to the supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of departmental rules and regulations; considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, teaching methods and techniques that provide positive motivation; working knowledge of rules, strategies, and skills; general knowledge of the Cardiovascular system and human anatomy; organizational procedures.
Skills: Public relations skills; demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job; must be versatile in all developmental stages.
Abilities: Plan, organize, instruct, and supervise the assigned program; control large groups of people; follow written and verbal instructions; remain current on the trends of the industry for which assigned; communicate effectively to the participants when teaching skills; analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine proper courses of action to be taken; work with little or no supervision; analyze and correct facility safety hazards; write incident and accident reports; adhere to the facility emergency procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships.
EVIDENCE OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Training - Requires AFP and AEA Certifications
Experience – Previous instructional experience preferred.
