Under immediate supervision, performs difficult technical skilled work in the testing, maintenance and repair of electronic traffic and parking control equipment.
Tests electronic equipment, analyzes and locates improper operating components; calibrates and adjusts equipment; assembles, dismantles and repairs digital intergrated circuits, printed circuit boards, power supplies, amplifiers and other components; responds to field trouble calls; repairs or adjusts traffic controllers, light relays, amplifiers; repairs signal wires; repairs and maintains electronic parking control cash terminals; trouble shoots; debugs circuitry; maintains lines printers; maintains communications lines, card readers, ticket dispensers and related equipment; repairs other electrical and mechanical parking equipment problems; removes and installs electronic electrical and electromechanical parking equipment; installs and inspects traffic signal system equipment; maintains records.
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in electronic technology and considerable experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic signal control devices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of the principles and methods of electronics as applied to traffic control equipment used in traffic signal maintenance; ability to detect electronic defects and perform corrective maintenance on traffic control equipment; ability to maintain records and prepare technical reports.
Possession of a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
