Sport Field Attendant

Summary: Assists with all aspects related to the maintenance of sport fields, multi-use grass fields, infields and surrounding areas related.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

• Work with Sport Field Supervisor to coordinate all aspects of the maintenance of sport fields, multi-use fields, infields, and surrounding areas.
• Prepare fields which will include dragging infields, chalking/painting fields, mowing, setting bases and ensuring playability.
• Operates City Park equipment including but not limited to vehicles, small garden tractors, small engine machines, zero turn mowers and other equipment necessary.
• Ability to operate all equipment needed to efficiently perform ground duties.
• Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and tools used throughout the daily course of work.
• Mowing, edging, weed eating and blowing of all assigned areas.
• Basic understanding of mechanical operation of all equipment and ability to communicate with mechanic any repairs or maintenance needed.
• Willingness to learn and be trained on larger equipment used in sport field maintenance.
• Pickup and removal of all loose paper and debris in assigned area.
• Removal of all debris, including tree branches, tires, dead animals, furniture, car parts and any other unwanted debris that is left on park grounds.
• Reporting of graffiti, large debris, or other unwanted items on park grounds so they are immediately addressed.
• Cleaning of drains and catch basins.
• Assisting other team members and departments as necessary
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all park staff, vendors, and the public.
• Assist with street cleaning, drain clearing and other non-turf care tasks as needed.
• Supports and actively promotes New Orleans City Park’s safety programs.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and group situations.
• Spraying of herbicides under supervisor guidance.
  
  

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Active and Unrestricted Driver’s License
• Ability to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat.
• Previous experience related to lawn care and grounds maintenance.
• Preferred experience in sport field maintenance.
