Sewing Department Supervisor (Bilingual)

Job Summary:

The Sewing Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sewing department in a manufacturing environment. They supervise a team of sewing machine operators and ensure that production targets, quality standards, and safety regulations are met. The Sewing Department Supervisor is also responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing solutions to increase efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise a team of sewing machine operators, ensuring that they are working efficiently and productively to meet production targets and quality standards.
• Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
• Monitor the quality of work produced by the sewing machine operators and take corrective action as necessary.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations to management for changes to equipment, procedures, or staffing levels.
• Train new sewing machine operators and ensure that they are properly trained to operate equipment and follow procedures.
• Maintain inventory levels of sewing supplies and materials and order additional supplies as necessary.
• Ensure that sewing equipment is maintained in good working order and that repairs are carried out promptly when necessary.
• Communicate with other departmental supervisors to ensure that all departments are working together efficiently to meet production targets.
• Report on departmental performance to management and make recommendations for improvements to processes or staffing levels.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment, in a sewing department.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and to motivate team members to meet production targets and quality standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff in both English and Spanish, fluently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Knowledge of sewing equipment and materials, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
