About the Role: The Sr. Retail Analyst/Jr. Data Scientist supports the executive team’s strategic decisions by providing thought leadership to help drive better decisions quicker. This role will support growth initiatives and cost optimization by helping the business understand promotional performance, space & inventory planning, competitive landscape, product planning, store optimization, and ad hoc analyses. The Retail Analyst is expected to mine Claire’s rich data sets for insights that can drive results and help turn data into business stories that help inform business decisions. The Retail Analyst will adapt to the newest tools and statistical techniques, keep up to date with retail analytics trends, and inspire action through data-based storytelling. Mine existing and new sources of data to answer pressing business questions Execution and innovation in our promotional analysis leading to merchandise and store recommendations based on findings Create data-based stories and present findings to leadership inside and outside of the Analytics team Management and execution of ad hoc reporting and analytics requests from various partner groups, e.g. merchandising, planning, store ops, marketing, etc…, for all lines of business Creating and maintaining self-serve/canned reports for business users to be able to automate consistent/repeated ad hoc requests Education/training of internal team members in coding and statistical best practices and use of data sources Education/training of cross-functional team members on the self-serve reporting About You: Bachelor's Degree in Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering or related fields preferred 5 years of full-time data science and/or analytics experience 2 years of retail, restaurant, hospitality, or B2C e-commerce strongly preferred Advanced SQL (e.g. joins, sub-queries, statistical functions, etc…) Advanced Excel Skills (e.g. arrays, statistical functions, pivot tables, etc…) Intermediate-Advanced PowerBI/Tableau experience Intermediate to Advanced R/Python preferred Claire's is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and we encourage applications from members of all underrepresented groups, including those with disabilities.
