With the Data Privacy / Data Protection market poised to go over $103 billion in the next few years, Clarip is growing fast and we are looking for the Legal Counsel to join Clarip's Data Privacy team. The Legal Counsel will provide counseling and strategic advice on a broad range of issues such as data privacy laws, Software MSAs / SaaS agreements, nondisclosure agreements and partnership agreements. Counsel will be responsible for reviewing, revising and negotiating various commercial transactions related to the Clarip’s products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal counsel and advice on privacy regulation
- Monitor changes in Privacy and Data Protection laws and regulations globally to ensure adaptation and compliance
- Work closely with the executive team and assist in legal issues
- Work closely with engineering / implementation teams and clients to ensure compliance with privacy laws
- Provide guidance to client's legal and compliance teams pre and post implementation stages to ensure that data privacy and data security requirements and controls are understood and implemented seamlessly
- Develop privacy training materials for customers
- Work closely with graphic design and marketing teams in developing white papers and other informational assets related to data privacy laws and best practices
- Participate in pre-sales meetings and strategy sessions with senior client executives and help articulate Clarip’s value proposition and regulatory risks associated with non-compliance
- Review, revise and negotiate MSAs, NDAs and other legal agreements
- Conduct webinars and give presentations on CCPA, GDPR and other privacy laws
Requirements
- JD from accredited U.S. law school
- An active, good standing membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a law firm or in corporate legal and/or privacy compliance
- Prior hands on work experience counseling, reviewing, drafting and negotiating MSAs, Technology / SaaS agreements, such as licensing, services, consumer technology, information technology, consulting, marketing, and partnership agreements.
- Hold at least one Data Protection or Privacy certification such as, CIPP, CIPT, ISEB, etc.
- Strong knowledge of GDPR, CCPA and other data privacy regulation
- Good understanding of major privacy frameworks and evolving legislation within the U.S and worldwide
- Hands on technology experience is a plus
- Ability to stay focused on results while working independently
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Able to manage time well and handle multiple deadlines
