Summary
Performs secretarial duties utilizing legal terminology, procedures, and documents to support and assist assigned attorneys. Critical features of this job are described below. They may be subject to change at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Scans client/matter mail and saves into document management system
- Opens and closes client and matter files
- Reviews/proofreads and processes legal documents and papers, such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and discovery
- Electronically files, faxes, e-serves, through either CM/ECF or Florida Courts E-Filing Portal, or arranges for delivery of legal documents and correspondence to court, opposing counsel, clients, witnesses, and court officials
- Receives and places telephone calls
- Schedules and makes appointments
- Makes photocopies of or scans correspondence, documents, and other printed matter
- Maintains files and pleadings indexes to ensure files are current
- Assists attorneys in collecting and maintaining discovery data and client records
- Proficiently transcribes dictation
- Drafts and types office memos
- Maintains log and posting of assigned attorneys' CLE credits
- Occasionally researches and handles travel arrangements
- Occasionally travels to clients' locations to execute documents

Requirements
- Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Associates Degree preferred
- Three to five years of related experience in the legal field or equivalent combination of education, work experience and training in a law office setting
- Able to work Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Able to work minimum overtime if required
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

Salary : $34,600 - $43,800
