What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Consultant position at Classic Tents & Events?
The Sales Consultant works with clients to plan and coordinate events that exceed their expectations. This position is client-centered and focused, involving heavy phone contact and detailed follow-up, service, and support in regard to rental equipment and customer appointments.
Essential functions
- Assists with preparation, execution of proposals and rental contracts.
- Assists with renting equipment or arranges for delivery of service to customer.
- May assist with explanations of rental fees and provide information about rented items, such as operation or description.
- Supports the Sales Manager with collecting deposits or payments
- Answers telephone and processes phone orders.
- Recommends rental equipment to customers that best meets their need
- Reserves equipment as requested and maintains rental reservation file.
- Updates and calls overdue list daily and alerts Sales Manager of overdue contracts.
- May fill in or support other positions, when necessary, for smooth operation of the business.

Supervisory responsibilities:
- This position does not supervise staff.
Work environment:
- Most work will be indoors with limited exposure to outside elements.
- The job requires constant interaction with the public via phone or in person.
- May work in close proximity to other people, such as when sharing or entering office space.
- Hours worked/scheduled generally 40 hours per week; additional hours may be required as needed.
Physical demands:
- Mostly works in indoor/office environment.
- May work in close proximity to other people, such as when sharing or entering office space.
- May be required to lift occasionally and generally less than 10 lbs.
Required education and experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess sales and customer relation skills.
- Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel Advanced knowledge and experience is required. Training on rental software will be provided.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Ability to follow instructions and execute accordingly.
- Reliable and dependable with attendance, follow-up and follow through of client and manager requests.
Preferred education and experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
- Rental software or other system knowledge and experience.
- Previous event coordination experience is a plus (weddings, festivals, etc.)
- Bi-lingual/ability to speak Spanish.
- High degree of flexibility and patience.
- Cooperative and team player
- Maintains a professional personal appearance and demeanor.
Travel required:
- Occasionally to and from job sites.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $47,500.00 - $57,500.00 per year
