OVERVIEW

We’re looking for an individual with a strong interest in technology and a willingness to help other people to join our team as an IT Support Technician.

Your attitude, willingness to take ownership of new things, and ability to effectively help others are as important, if not more, than your technology skills. You’ll be the go-to person for many team members when they need help and cheerful, quick support is critical to keeping the rest of our team moving well and feeling great.

We’re open to someone with the right attitude and interests but relatively little experience in this role. If you want to build some experience as an IT professional in a challenging environment working on relatively current technology, this is a good opportunity for you.

However, we will expect you to grow in your skills and abilities! A lot of the work required will be of a somewhat routine nature, like setting up new computers or plugging in networking cables. But there will also be the opportunity to gain experience with and be trained on more advanced technologies and modern systems, like Salesforce, Jira, Confluence, and more.

You’ll be focused on helping with all the IT systems, both company-wide and individually. This includes individual Apple workstations, VOIP phones, physical networks, and the infrastructure that makes them operate. You’ll need to be comfortable and willing to work in a Macintosh environment.

Things You’ll Definitely Do

The following list of activities and responsibilities cover the key functions we’ll expect from someone in this position.
 
  • Support team members with technical issues.
  • Install and configure software on Apple hardware to deploy to the team.
  • Do basic physical network setup and troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks in Salesforce, Jira, and other applications, such as user management or troubleshooting access permissions.
  • Establish and maintain documented procedures for areas of responsibility to be shared with other team members.
  • Log and resolve all assigned work orders in compliance to department service level agreements.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software system issues related to servers, storage, and backup devices (including possibly the SAN/NAS).
  • Provide support and administration of the corporate email systems.
  • Provide computer room operations and backup/recovery duties.
  • Track and document all hardware and software assets as applicable to servers and databases.
  • Coordinate work activities with other technical staff and users to maintain maximum system performance and availability.
  • Provide on-call coverage for systems during non-business hours.
  • Provide good customer service to phone calls or emails, to include frequent follow-up and status updates on open issues while adhering to department Service Level Agreements. I.e. First Time Response, Frequency of Status Updates and Problem Resolution Duration.
  • Continue to learn, with increasing depth, more sophisticated technological tools and techniques that will aid and better position the Company in its day-to-day operation.
  • Attend educational workshops, review professional publications, and participate in professional societies to establish a personal network and benchmark state-of-the-art practices.

Stuff That Would Be Nice

These are some skills or abilities that we’d like someone in this position to have, even if it takes some time to grow into them. You don’t necessarily have to have these to be successful at the beginning.
 
  • Network Experience (MPLS, VPN, Juniper, Unifi, pfSense, Wi-Fi).
  • Working knowledge of VOIP telephony systems.
  • Display a high level of attention to detail specifically as it relates to security, system availability, and technical support service level agreements.
  • Shell scripting (/php/ruby/bash) preferred but not required.
