Join the Clean Tahoe Crew as we set up shop in North Lake Tahoe and launch our 1-year pilot program.
This position will train and supervise field assistant(s). The position encompasses a wide variety of duties to reduce litter throughout the community. The position will manage the Clean Tahoe Program field operations (routes) and monitor associated paperwork. The position reports directly to the Clean Tahoe Executive Director (ED). Supervises and trains the field assistant(s).
Oversees litter problems reported to the office and take appropriate steps to resolve issues of concern, including situations such as overflowing dumpsters, animal-in-trash messes illegally dumped items, and bulk items in view. Reports more serious problems to the Clean Tahoe ProgramED.
Interfaces with business owners and residents at large to investigate refuse container alternatives to control visible trash and/or bulk items.
Acts as liaison with the California Tahoe Conservancy regarding seasonal placement of trash cans and supplies needed for servicing of Conservancy owned trash cans.
Inspects neighborhoods, business areas, and roadways for litter problems and clean as needed.
Oversees servicing of County, and CTC trash and recycling containers on a weekly basis.
Supervises the pick-up and disposal of bulk items: i.e., furniture and appliances.
Transports litter, recycling, and other waste.
Issues 10-Day Courtesy Notices regarding trash can or litter violations.
Conducts re-inspections of properties to determine if the problem noted on the 10-Day Courtesy Notice has been resolved.
Refers unresolved violations to office staff to pass along to County Code Enforcement and County Environmental Management.
Promotes the Clean Tahoe Program’s goals and environmental concerns to the City of South Lake Tahoe’s residents, business owners, visitors, and community events. Evaluates the field assistant(s) work performance. Performs other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of the English language.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing, at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Ability to adhere to prescribed routines, procedures, and duties with many interruptions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Possession at time of hire and continued maintenance of a valid California or Nevada Driver's License and a safe driving record acceptable to the Program's Insurance carrier.
Ability to learn the organization, procedures, and operating details of the Clean Tahoe Program. Bilingual skills are advantageous.
Must be able to lift or carry a weight of fifty (50) pounds.
Pre-employment drug screening and a DMV printout are required.
