To join our team as a Residential QA/QC Inspector, to work in the Connecticut Residential Inspection Services program. The Residential QA/QC Inspector will be responsible for quality assurance inspections in observation of contractor performance real-time and post inspection, within both residential 1-4 family and multifamily housing. This is a remote position with field-based responsibilities for in-person inspections in various client housing. The territory covered by this position will include several Connecticut counties, based on the home location of the applicant and the needs of the program. Extensive daily travel is expected.

Receive assignments via e-mail for inspections; no outbound calls to customers.
Perform real-time observations of and mentoring to Contractors performing energy audits within Residential 1-4 family and multi-family homes.
Perform post-work inspections of Contractors’ installed energy efficiency follow-up measures within Residential and Multi-Family homes.
Provide technical advice, guidance, and training on installation, adaptation, configuration, or enhancement to Contractors in accordance with client specifications.
Document observations while on-site regarding project scope, planning, and effectiveness of products and services, noting pre-existing and post-work states and any variances from program specifications, including taking photos of work.

Required: Minimum of 5 years experience working in an energy efficiency role or related residential trade (HVAC, electrical, insulation, residential construction, building energy modeling, any field related to a residential energy efficiency role).
Must not have been employed by a contractor performing work in Energize Connecticut’s HES, HES-IE or Residential New Construction programs, or the Multifamily Initiative, for a period of at least one year.
High school diploma, required.
Valid driver’s license, required.
Excellent oral, organizational, mathematical and documentation skills; meticulous attention to detail, required.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, required.
Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst, Envelope Professional (or BA-P/BA-T), BPI Quality Control Inspector and/or Multifamily Building Analyst certifications preferred (trainings offered for the right candidate – will require passing exams once in position).
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Home Energy Score Qualified Assessor, preferred (training offered for the right candidate – will require passing exam once in position).
