1. Valid Tennessee teacher's license in special education

3. Knowledgeable of academic CORE content in both ELA and Mathematics

REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL To provide specialized intervention in specific skill deficit areas to students with disabilities (SWDs.)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Works with special education service coordinators on regular basis to assist with programming for SWDs in the areas of behavior, transportation, homebound, academics, and comprehensive programs (i.e., ERC and CDC)
2. Assures the development of IAIEPs, chair IEP meetings in order to provide an instructional program that will minimize the student's disability and maximize learning opportunities, and contact parent(s) to give written notice at least ten (10) school days prior to proposing or refusing to initiate or change the identification, evaluation, or educational placement of SWDs
3. Maintains all Special Education records for students with disabilities (SWDs) and makes sure the following forms are included: Special Education IEP Team meeting paperwork; Invitation to IEP Meetings, Prior Written Notices, IEPs (Individualized Education Program), Accommodations, Behavior Support Plans, Evaluations, Reevaluation Reports and other forms
4. Reviews all transfer files, gather information/intake of all new students in SPED, collate new special education folders, make request for SWDs' paperwork, confer with the school psychologist, and complete Reevaluation Summary Reports for review to determine eligibility for SPED
5. Reviews all special education paperwork (Evaluations, Written Notices, IEPs) and oversee all special education testing
6. Administers academic tests for all new referrals or reevaluations, (if needed) and for all home and private school students
7. Maintains caseload with all home and private school students requiring Individual Services Plan
8. Attends Student Support (S-team) meetings and participate as an active member to assist with students' academic, emotional, and social needs
9. Participates in special education professional development and seek continual feedback to develop as a Team Leader
10. Assists with fidelity checks of intervention programs implementation for SWDs
11. Organizes days for general education teachers to sign off on IAIEPs (at the beginning of each semester)
12. Collates information from IAIEPs for TNReady accommodations for SWDs who need to take test in small group, individually, or other accommodations
13. Attends and schedule transition meetings at CMS with CHS Team Leader for rising freshman SWDs and fifth grade transition meetings at elementary schools for upcoming sixth graders
14. Schedules and attend manifestation determination meetings with school psychologists and other team members
15. Works in collaboration with the general education classroom teacher in planning and implementing instruction, reinforcing the methods and materials used in the classroom to accommodate the needs and learning styles of students
16. Provides consultation with administration, special and general education teachers, families regarding SWDs access to the general education curriculum, and handle phone calls/concerns of parents
17. Makes sure funds are spent for services for SWDs or/and within the special education department that supports instruction
18. Acts as a liaison between central office administration and CMS for SWDs
19. Develops and adjust schedules of all SWDs for their program and CORE classes
20. Provides input to principal or other administrators for paraprofessional evaluations
21. Manages all information to be placed in EASY IEP with the Service Specialist
22. Assists the principal with special education teacher evaluations as requested
23. Maintains record of special education inventory and equipment
24. Maintains standards of professional dress and conduct
25. Performs other related duties assigned by the Principal and/or Special Education Supervisor
26. Meets with Special Education Supervisor on regular basis to share concerns and successes
