What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Lifestyles position at Cleveland Clinic?
- Directs the operations and work activities of the LifeStyles medical fitness center to include direct supervision of managers and support staff. The Director interviews, hires, orients, trains, evaluates performance, provides feedback, initiates progressive discipline, and makes personnel action recommendations (e.g. promotions, transfers, disciplinary, discharge).
- Works with the Director, Business and VP, Health & Wellness Services to develop an annual LifeStyles budget and goals package. Provides the necessary leadership required for the department to comply with the approved budget and goals package.
- Maintains and distributes site-specific department statistical and financial reports that are accurate and complete according to pre-established schedules and formats.
- Develops and coordinates the LifeStyles new employee orientation program and is responsible for on-going employee training.
- Develops performance improvement programs and reports all observations and issues related to quality, staff, program, and facility to VP. Addresses all issues that directly affect the membership, staff, facility and/or program in a timely manner.
- Provides necessary oversight required to assure that the facilities and equipment are safe, well maintained, and meet cleanliness standards.
- Encourages the development and delivery of safe, effective, and value-added member programs and services.
- Provides leadership and oversight related to the marketing, membership sales, and promotional strategy and implementation process.
- Conducts daily facility walk-throughs to evaluate cleanliness, equipment function, and staff coverage.
- Addresses all member and employee issues completely and in a timely manner consistent with customer service standards and expectations.
- Ensures that LifeStyles and any other department with direct or indirect responsibility meet all compliance requirements completely and on schedule.
- Monitors the purchasing of all supplies and equipment to ensure uninterrupted productivity.
- Assumes direct and/or indirect responsibility, as assigned, for business units that support LifeStyles success.
- Participates in the "Manager On Duty" rotation, attends assigned department/ health system meetings, and attends selected seminars.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintain applicable certification/licensure along with required BLS.
- Follows hospital/system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, sports management, business administration, and/or other related field mandatory. Master degree, MBA preferred.
Certifications:
- None required
Complexity of Work:
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and human resources management. Competence in budget development, revenue generation, and financial management. Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service related skills.
Work Experience:
- Four years general management experience in a community, commercial, corporate, or hospital-based medical fitness center.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $36.80
Maximum hourly: $56.13
