The Opportunity 

Climavision is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Junior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team as we embark on an exciting journey into the realm of AI-driven weather forecasting. This position will play a pivotal role in our company's strategic shift towards leveraging advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to revolutionize the field of weather prediction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in data engineering and analytics, coupled with a passion for innovation and a proactive approach to problem-solving. 

The Work 

  • Data Engineering: Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyze large volumes of weather data from diverse sources. Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability throughout the pipeline. 
  • AI Integration: Collaborate with data scientists and AI specialists to integrate machine learning models and algorithms into our weather forecasting systems. Optimize data infrastructure to support AI-driven insights and predictions. 
  • Data Analytics: Extract actionable insights from complex datasets to enhance weather forecasting accuracy and reliability. Utilize statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and data visualization tools to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across the organization, including meteorologists, software engineers, product managers, and researchers. Provide data-driven support and insights to inform decision-making and drive innovation. 
  • Innovation and Initiative: Proactively identify opportunities to improve data collection, processing, and analysis methods. Propose and lead new initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing the quality and depth of our weather data. 
  • Startup Environment: Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility. Demonstrate adaptability, resilience, and a willingness to take on new challenges. 

Qualifications 

  • 2-5 years of proven experience in data analytics/ data engineering, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and database management. 
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and/or Java, with experience in data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy). 
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark). 
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques, with practical experience in model deployment and integration is a plus. 
  • Experience with version control systems like Git within GitHub.  
  • Preferred to have experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure (a very strong preference to Azure).  
  • Strong time management and organization skills

  • Open to engaging with many different stakeholders regardless of position or location. 
  • Ability to independently manage priorities and take initiative on issues.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:    

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.    
  • Fully Remote from the United States    
  • This job requires frequent use of a computer to complete tasks, attend meetings, and communicate via Microsoft Teams.
