About the Opportunity

In coordination with the Deputy Director, Programming, the Program Manager will support the planning and execution of content programming for CGI events. This position is charged with helping design and implement CGI’s conference programming, panel development, and content preparation for its year-round events. This position will play a critical role in helping CGI expand its programming to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges by elevating and spotlighting the diverse leaders, organizations, and ideas at the forefront of the philanthropic and international development world. The Program Manager will bring fresh, inclusive, and innovative ideas for conference and session design with insight into new trends. They will also be charged with supporting the development of topical programming that reflects and elevates the priorities of CGI and its various partners and commitment makers.

Successful candidates for this role will have strong writing and storytelling skills, experience in conference and event design, a global perspective, and will be excited to engage on challenges facing a diverse set of constituencies around the world.

Core Responsibilities

In this role you will work on:

Event Programming

  • Assist in the development of topic selection, session conceptualization, and speaker recruitment across featured/breakout sessions, and other sessions as needed.
    • Help create session descriptions, and work with CGI leadership teams on editing and obtaining approvals.
    • Support the design, execution, and management of sessions on a variety of topics, including but not limited to CGI’s pillars: health equity, climate resilience, and inclusive economic recovery and growth, and the intersections between them.
  • Write and edit drafts, content, and logistical information in speaker briefing documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
  • Support the development of speakers’ discussion questions for sessions like panels, one-on-one conversations, and breakout sessions based on session topics, speakers’ backgrounds, interests, and expertise, and work with CGI leadership teams and speakers’ staff to review and obtain final approvals.
  • Speaker recruitment and management
    • Develop and maintain speaker recruitment SOP’s and refine existing tracking mechanisms.
    • Provide support to the CGI team as they identify topical experts, conduct outreach, suggest, and secure speakers, and brief speakers
    • In coordination with the Senior Program Associate, manage, track, and vet all potential speakers.
    • Lead speaker briefing calls to gain knowledge of partners work and inform the creation of content for all events.
  • Support the design and execution of special events.
  • Help to manage long-term calendars to promote engagement with key communities, and ensure deadlines are established and met for all event materials and engagement with audience and speakers.
  • Conduct research and implement new facilitation strategies, and networking formats for executive-level participants.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for event design and execution.
  • Support the Senior Program Associate with data management and communication.

Support the design and programming of virtual sessions:

  • Design, program, and execute virtual sessions.
  • Conduct topic research, identify outside experts and advisors, suggest, and invite speakers for sessions.
  • Draft briefings and speakers’ questions, and work with CGI leadership on edits and approvals.
  • Support the CGI events and operations team, and outside vendors, on the planning and execution of virtual events.

Provide support on special event session designs for partner/co-hosted events.

  • Work with CGI partners to provide support on session designs and execution, as well as any additional special events.
  • Assist in speaker research, selection, recruitment, and outreach.
  • Draft briefings and speakers’ questions, and work with CGI leadership on edits and approvals.
  • Assist with the design and execution of other aspects of the event, such as networking or mapping activities.

 

Minimum Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, International Affairs, International Relations, International Development, Policy, Environment, Sustainability, Communications, or other related fields required; advanced degree in related field preferred
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility required. At least 1 of those years must have included either managing people or managing projects to completion. 1-2 years of direct experience with conference agenda design and session development preferred.
  • Experience in meeting and event design and execution, including virtual events.
  • Experience creating written content.
  • Experience in developing and managing relationships internationally with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Experience with the data management platform, Airtable and relational databases (CRMs), preferred
  • Ability to work in a varying schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, and work on multiple time zones, as necessary.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $69-74K annually, depending on the experience you bring. This range is based on NYC market rates and may be adjusted if you will be working remotely.  We look forward to discussing our compensation pricing strategy, and your expectations, throughout the interview process.
