Transportation Staff Assistant
Position Summary:
The Transportation Staff Assistant is a 190 day position who will assist in all aspects of transportation with a specific focus on Special Needs Transportation.

PayScale : Teacher Assistant Scale
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the administration, planning and implementation of Clover School District specialized transportation and inclusion of students with disabilities.
- Assists in all aspects of transporting students with disabilities within special needs transportation and inclusion of students with disabilities on regular education buses to include overseeing and routing.
- Ensuring compliance with all local and federal laws and regulations relating to transporting students with IEPs/504s plans
- Ensures that transportation services are aligned with students’ IEPs/504s
- Oversees/prepares required state reporting as it relates to specialized transportation to include Medicaid
- Liaison between parents of students with disabilities and transportation to facilitate resolution of any issues in transportation
- Coordinates / oversees identification, development and delivery of appropriate training for transportation staff on all aspects of transporting students with disabilities (ie. Laws/regulations, disability awareness, safety protocols, behavior management)
- Oversees special education transportation inventory of equipment/materials
- Work directly with District Lead Nurse regarding all transportation issues.
- Coordinate and dispatch bus drivers
- Assist with organizing and maintaining departmental records
- Serve as a point of contact for department-related inquiries (SPED and Transportation)
- Collaborate with staff members to ensure efficient operations
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, filing, and scheduling appointments
- Attends professional development to be current in practices, programs, and legal issues regarding specialized transportation
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Proficient with bus routing software to include Traversa and GeoTab (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and knowledge of routing students with disabilities
- Be committed to meeting the transportation needs of a diverse student population
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in working with transportation department and special education department
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Prior experience in an administrative assistant role is preferred
