Position Summary: The Residence Manager provides leadership in all aspects of the residential program. Designs programs to teach community living and daily living skills to adults living in the home and oversees the total daily operation of the Residence. Models appropriate interactions which each resident that fosters independence, community growth, social maturity and inclusion. This position is required to provide emergency on-call coverage.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintain the residents’ records and confidentiality of such records.
- Follow-up on any aftercare/recommendations for medical/ clinical treatment. Accompany residents, as needed, on appointments (medical, psychiatric). *
- Assist participants in researching and obtaining community resources appropriate and applicable to their needs and goals. *
- Work schedules and locations are subject to change, based on resident and program needs.
- This does not limit the assignment of duties or exclude the performance of the other duties, not mentioned, as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise the program operations of one or two IRA’s in separate locations.
- Implement all policies and standards of compliance of CMCS, as well as Federal, State and County regulatory requirements.
- Develop, coordinate and ensure implementation of all appropriate services for individuals living in the IRA including the development and oversight of the Staff Action Plan (S.A.P).
- Supervise the Direct Support Professionals, and Assistant Residence Manager as applicable in all aspects of community living including providing direct support to ensure completion of the task.
- Responsible for emergency evacuation, including ensuring resident safety in all fire drills and actual emergencies. This may include the ability to climb and descend fire escapes and assist others to do the same. Additionally, this may include both verbal and physical prompting, including lifting in order to evacuate, and the ability to perform first aid for the participants.
- Assist consumers with physical care including toileting, showering, tooth brushing, dressing/grooming and good hygiene. Physical lifting will be required in some cases including such duties as transferring Consumers to and from wheelchairs to toilets, beds, vans, showering daily living routines, and emergency evacuations. You must be able to physically drag 75 lbs. sack for 50 yards.
- Participate in and lead the residential program planning team in identifying residents’ needs.
- Coordinate and or provide oversight of house activities and scheduling to ensure timely and effective implementation of educational, behavioral and recreational programs.
- Assists Care Coordinator(s) in coordinating professional services for each individual, including maintaining current documentation regarding service provision such as Life Plans.
- Participate in all Agency, Departmental and Interdisciplinary meetings.
- Assist the Program Coordinator or Assistant Director in the interview and hiring of direct care staff and or Assistant Residence Manager(s).
- Communicate regularly with direct care professionals, formally and informally. Provide all direct care professionals with feedback regarding performance both, positive and that needing improvement on a regular basis. Utilize both One Page Plans as well as DSP Evaluation Tool from OPWDD.
- Communicates regularly with all Care Coordinators, family members and day programs. Maintains documentation of such communication.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate handling of the individual’s monies as policy prescribes, including the return of original legible signed receipts for clothing or emergency situations or standard purchases.
- Responsible for ensuring the timely completion of direct support professional’s time sheets, including tracking of benefit day usage such as Sick, Vacation, Personal days and Bereavement Days for example
- Responsible for completing assignments in a timely manner deemed reasonable by your supervisor.
Essential skills, experience, licensure, certification:
- Bachelor Degree in a human service field preferred and at least three years related experience including one-year supervisory experience required.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License required and acceptable driving record as issued by Department of Motor Vehicles
- Must be proficient in basic computer, applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
