CME Associates is in search of a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to become a valuable member of our team. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in underground storage tank (UST) and aboveground storage tank (AST) fuel storage and dispensing systems inspections, compliance monitoring, and testing. Additionally, we are looking for experience in Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations and field inspection activities. The role also demands proficiency in soil and groundwater sampling, coupled with strong skills in report writing based on field inspection and sampling services.

- Conduct inspections and assessments of UST and AST fuel storage and dispensing systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Review automatic remote monitoring system status reports.
- Basic Operation & Maintenance duties; light construction ability.
- Perform Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) inspections to prevent and manage stormwater runoff impacts.
- Execute Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) inspections to prevent and address potential oil spills.
- Collect soil and groundwater samples for analysis, ensuring accuracy and adherence to sampling protocols.
- Utilize field instruments and equipment for environmental monitoring and data collection.
- Analyze and interpret data obtained from inspections and sampling activities.
- Prepare detailed and comprehensive reports based on field inspections and sampling services.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to address environmental concerns and develop effective solutions.
- Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, sampling activities, and reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field. High School Diploma / Vocational Training is acceptable with sufficient relevant field experience.
- Proven experience in conducting inspections of UST and AST fuel storage and dispensing systems.
- Knowledge and experience in Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) inspections.
- Familiarity with soil and groundwater sampling techniques and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in report writing based on field inspection and sampling services.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in data collection and reporting.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
- Operation & Maintenance duties; light construction ability.
- Valid driver's license. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and open/close UST manhole covers.
- Preferred Qualifications: 40 Hour HAZWOPER; 0-3 years’ experience; NJ Licensed Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator (N1, N2, etc.); and New Jersey UST Class A/B Operator certification.
