Description
Job Summary: Accountable for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. Requires skill in the sequencing of diagnoses/procedures to optimize reimbursement. Ensures that records are coded in an accurate and timely manner.

Regulatory Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- AHIMA Certification or equivalent, preferred.
- Knowledge of diagnoses/procedures in accordance with ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM coding principles for both acute and skilled nursing facilities.
- Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
