Job Description
Job Title: Clinical Supervisor
Job Summary: A Registered Nurse with responsibility for clinical management, supervision of nursing services and coordination of care in area of responsibility. Responsible and accountable for coordinating and supervising the nursing care provided to patients on assigned nursing unit. Participates in establishment and implementation of Hospital and Nursing objectives. Participates in the development and review of policies and procedures along with Performance Improvement Projects. Assists Nursing Director with appropriate unit initiatives including clinical rounds, orientation of new hires, evaluation of annual staff performance, physician collaboration, educational needs of staff, participates in appropriate meetings and or committees. Reports to Nursing Director.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assists with maintenance of department budget through efficient management of productivity, staffing, scheduling, and ordering of supplies and inventory.
- Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards and guidelines set by regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize patient care problems and determine nursing interventions utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Participates in department specific process improvement.
- Ensures that all staff licensure, certifications, competencies and education requirements are maintained and up to date.
- Provides education and updates as needed.
- Assists Director with interviewing and counseling and participates in the evaluation process.
- Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team in planning patient care through Clinical rounding with staff, management and MD’s to ensure patient safety and satisfaction
- Supports and mentors Charge and Relief Charge Nurses with their assigned duties
- Assisting staff with assimilating evidenced based knowledge into decisions for the provision of patient care and in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement
- Assists Charge and Relief Charges Nurses to manage crisis in the unit by coordinating the plan, implementation, evaluation of solution to conflicts
- Assists management in ensuring compliance with organizational policies, standards, regulations and professional standards of care. Participates in organization Performance Improvement
- Serves as a role model for the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within Scope of Practice
- Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific area of practice

Education / Experience:
- Minimum of five years acute care experience
- Minimum of three years as a charge nurse or progressive management in an acute care setting.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of two years in specialty area
Licensure / Certifications:
- Registered Nurse in good standing with California Board of Nursing
- Current American Heart BLS for Health Care Provider Card
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Card
- Current area specific certification required (i.e. NRP, PALS, 12-Lead EKG Course, AB 508)
