The Assistant Manager will report to the Manager of Coffee Inclusive and fulfill all aspects of the coffee bar in accordance with the vision and mission of Coffee Inclusive. The Assistant Manager will promote a dual role of Assistant Manager and Barista by offering kindness and inclusion in addition to promoting coffee consumption by educating customers; selling coffee & merchandise; in addition to preparing and serving a variety of coffee/tea drinks, along with pastries and menu items. The Assistant Manager will lead all members to maintain a smooth, efficient and profitable operation for the coffee shop while maintaining inventory needs, ensuring guests satisfaction, ensuring product quality and managing safety of the store.
Job Duties:
· Welcome customers by determining their beverages interest and needs.
· Educate customers by presenting and explaining the drinks menu and ingredients, answering questions.
· Plan, schedule and build social media content during slow periods of your shift, including scheduling social media postings for each day.
· Assist the Manager in preparing the weekly staff schedule.
· Keep track and maintain the staffing flow and fill in shifts when staff call off.
· Train and support co-workers with diverse abilities creating an organic collaborative culture.
· Track and order of general inventory needed for the coffee shop.
· Ensure merchandise is stocked. Recommend new items and additional orders when stock is running low.
· Create daily/weekly/holiday/seasonal drink and food specials in an effort to provide variety and excitement to the customer base. Post scheduled drinks and food specials on internal boards, social media posts, and on a weekly ‘special menu.’
· Prepare, sell, and serve coffee/tea drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation.
· Preparation of a short menu of smoothies and healthy bowls.
· Perform techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, latte, and cappuccino, etc.
· Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards).
· Generate revenues by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products.
· Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies and pastries.
· Keep equipment operational by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintain supplies; clean products daily, perform preventive maintenance; and call for repairs.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by following organization standards, cleanliness and other policies and sanitation regulations.
· Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and helping Manager design efficient processes; implement changes; maintain & improve the appearance of the store and brew bar.
· Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items.
· Support co-workers with diverse abilities by patiently assisting so they can achieve independence and empowerment.
· Manage, demonstrate, coach and support all team members to achieve operational goals.
· Maintain good relationships with customers and co-workers.
· Assist in POS system where needed.
· Other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma is preferred.
Excellent customer service skills and communication.
Infectious love of coffee and/or people.
Ability to keep a calm, mature, professional demeanor when needed.
Proactive approach to problem-solving.
A high degree of ethics and obsession with superior customer service.
Excellent time management skills and ability to self-direct when necessary. High level of organization.
Adaptability and the ability to creatively troubleshoot difficult situations.
Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
A passion for small business and quality products.
Be a model barista, in terms of bar skills, customer service and enthusiasm to share knowledge and kindness.
Detail-oriented, dependable and flexible.
Basic or previous POS knowledge a plus, Previous management experience preferred.
Have customer service attitude. Promote brand awareness.
Ability to work alongside people with diverse abilities.
