Job Description

Our DC Metro office is growing and we’re looking for a Fire Protection Engineer who is passionate and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth. We are seeking an individual with eight years of experience to perform consulting services for internal and external clients. Technical skills will include, but not limited to automatic suppression system design; fire detection, alarm and communication system design; code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant construction analysis; smoke control analysis; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.
Qualifications
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from accredited college or university in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Sciences, or related engineering field
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in Fire Protection Engineering
- Minimum of eight years working experience in the Fire Protection profession
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit, Bluebeam, and general electronic drawing format software.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills
Duties and Skills:
- Possess intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, simple graphics, and a working knowledge of computer aided drafting
- Performing building and fire code analysis and interpretation
- Managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients while utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations
- Develop engineering judgements for code alternatives
- Provide peer reviews of colleagues’ work product
- Have or be developing an “area of expertise” within fire protection engineering
- Performing research and documenting for internal and external distribution
- Building and fire code analysis and interpretation
- Project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs
- Develop client relationships, pursue new business opportunities, and develop proposals.
- Design fire alarm, fire detection, and fire suppression systems.
- Review, develop, and commission smoke control systems.
- Perform site visits and communicate with AHJ, architects, contractors, and consulting teams.
- Participate in and lead internal team meetings and external client meetings.
