Job Summary:
Operates the specific vehicles used for the transport of products and the extraction of materials from the material production sites (quarries, etc..) in observance of the safety guidelines.
Main Responsibilities:
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Observe safety procedures, report conditions that may be unsafe, and use equipment and materials properly
- Observe pressure gauges and flow meters, control winches, and regulate speed of pumps, control pressure and rate of flow of materials
- Operate a variety of equipment that may include loaders, excavators, skid steer
- Maintain pumps and gaskets, tightening connections and adjusting pumps
- Maintain all aspects of plant and dredge
- Move levers to place equipment in position for excavation
- Connect pipelines between pumps and screen plants and lay additional pipes from equipment to shore
- Collect samples of materials for laboratory analysis
- Record quantity of item pumped
- Inventory contents of fuel tank
- Install screen cloth and grizzlies on plants
- Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation noting any concerns or repairs
- Responsible for various duties as needed
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- MSHA certification preferred (ability to acquire upon hire required)
- Valid drivers’ license and clean driving history required
Skills:
- 1 year prior experience operating equipment and/or related experience preferred
- Basic mechanical skills preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information (This position frequently communicates with others regarding safety issues/training or must be able to discern equipment location for safety)
- Regularly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess (must be able to detect moving equipment or must be able to safely inspect work at heights above 10 feet)
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequently required to Stand/work on feet for long periods, and walk across uneven terrain
- Frequently required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
- Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery, exposure to loud noise
- Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather
