FUNCTIONAL TITLE: IT Manager/DBA
Position Summary
This is a dual role position. The IT manager/DBA’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The IT manager/DBA will plan, coordinate, direct and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The IT manager/DBA will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The IT manager/DBA will design, test, plan, implement, protect, operate, manage, and maintain ColdPoint Logistics’ database environment. This role is also responsible for the internal tools that maintain, or require, a database connection. The IT manager/DBA must be knowledgeable in all aspects of database support, diligent, and analytical; they also must possess outstanding communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a small IT department’s operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
- All IT employees report to an IT Administrator. This IT Administrator provides leadership support to the IT Team and will report to the IT Manager/DBA. The IT Manager/DBA will provide high level leadership support and direction to the team.
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and Office Automation equipment.
- Benchmark, analyze, report on and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
- Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
- Keep current with the latest technologies.
- Ensures adherence to HACCP and SQF requirements for food quality and safety.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing database environments (MS SQL)
- Develop and maintain internal tools with Visual Basic programming language
- Document system performance, bugs, debugging, and program requirements
- Follow maintenance protocols to ensure systems are secure and ready for users
- Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and work orders in a courteous manner
- Build rapport and elicit problem details from end users and vendors
- Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the IT Manager and/or appropriate vendor
- Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through the final resolution
- Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting
- Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution
- Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization
- Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved
- Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests
- Develop help sheets and knowledge base articles for end users
- Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position manages an IT Administrator (salaried leader) who is responsible for the performance management of IT team members and will provide hiring support of the team members within that department.

Education and/or Experience
Four-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient in MS Office, SQL, and network architecture.
Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
