What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Technician position at College of Southern Idaho?
POSITION PURPOSE: Provides a variety of Business Office support functions. Analyze, research, and reconcile financial information related the to the Student Account, explains compliance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work under general supervision, individual will monitor records to identify and correct errors, interpret, explain, apply regulations, policies, and provide general information and service for various Business Office functions.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Adhere to the College of Southern Idaho Code of Conduct 8.02 (Rev: 1/01-5/2012) “The College of Southern Idaho requires all employees to act in accordance with all state, federal, and local laws, and regulations. Employees are expected to be of high moral character and utilize judgment to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.”
- Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
- Answer phone calls, delivering exceptional and courteous service, transferring callers to specialists only as necessary.
- Participate in ongoing comprehensive cross-training efforts within the Business Office.
- Maintain professional and effective relationships with CSI colleagues.
- Have a general knowledge of the organization’s programs and functions.
- Ability to tactfully deal with public officials, business representatives, and/or the public to identify and resolve non-routine issues involving Business Office transactions.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet critical deadlines.
- Willingness to come in early or stay late during critical times.
- Willingness to learn and use complex computer SIS and ERP systems.
- Willingness to participate in overall College operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
UNIQUE FUNCTIONS
- Problem-solve and use independent judgment in dealing with inquiries.
- Regularly reference, retain, recall, and apply CSI policies and procedures.
- Review, complete, and process financial documents/transactions and ensure their compliance with laws, regulations, and policies/procedures for approval or recommended approval.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
- Excellent interpersonal communication and public relations skills.
- Good judgment and professionalism in dealing with pressures and meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to attend and receive additional training to improve skills.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE REQUIRED
- Require strong skills in using computer systems to develop and maintain records, documents, and financial data.
- Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook, telephone skills, and other related office systems.
EDUCATION / TRAINING REQUIRED
- High School diploma or equivalent certificate, or proven work experience commensurate with the job requirement.
- Professional business communications, including proper English usage, punctuation, and spelling.
- Knowledge of Business Functions and Accounting.
