The College of Southern Idaho is seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our Trade and Industry Department as an Apprenticeship Instructor. This position will primarily focus on teaching and mentoring machine operator youth apprentices and adult maintenance tech apprentices. As an integral part of a strong collegial group of instructors, the successful candidate will be committed to maintaining high standards for instruction and participating in rigorous program review and assessment processes.
Responsibilities:
Design and deliver effective and engaging classroom and hands-on instruction to machine operator youth apprentices and adult maintenance tech apprentices. Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes active participation and skills development.
Collaborate within the Trade and Industry Department and with the CSI Workforce Development and Training unit as they engage with industry partners to inform the continuous improvement of the curriculum, ensuring it meets industry standards, current trends, and emerging technologies and the changing economic landscape of our region. Adapt instructional materials, as needed, to meet diverse learner needs.
Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices, assisting them in developing technical skills, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment that promotes growth and success.
Contribute actively to the ongoing review and assessment of the apprenticeship programs. Collaborate with colleagues to analyze program outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes to enhance the effectiveness of the programs. The specific responsibility of this individual is to provide related instruction, which is integrated into a larger apprenticeship program, including on-the-job training and mentorship. The successful candidate will collaborate with other CSI team members in achieving all the objectives of the apprenticeship programs.
Along with CSI team members, foster and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, staying informed about industry trends and advancements. Collaborate with CSI Workforce Development and Training and with industry professionals to ensure apprentices receive the most up-to-date training and knowledge relevant to their fields.
Provide academic and career guidance to apprentices, assisting with goal setting, job placement, and professional development opportunities. Support apprentices in their transition from the classroom to the workforce, ensuring their readiness for successful careers.
Training will occur at several locations around the Magic Valley, including the Twin Falls, Burley, and Jerome campuses.
Requirements:
Associate Degree or equivalent work experience in the maintenance, or related field, including knowledge of safety, tools, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, welding, instrumentation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, etc.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance, or related field, with a proven track record of professional success. Experience teaching or training apprentices, students, or adult learners is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, apprentices, and industry partners. Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective instructional materials, employing a variety of teaching strategies and technologies. Commitment to maintaining high instructional standards and continuously improving teaching methods.
Self-motivated and dedicated to the success of apprentices. Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
