Role Overview
This position is for a Staff Project Engineer serving as the Technical Project Manager (TPM) for the Integration and Unmanned Systems team. The TPM will lead the pursuit, capture, design and development activities for the next generation of Collins unmanned ground control stations.
The Integration and Unmanned Systems team provides ground control stations for the US Government Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Commercial Urban Air Mobility markets. The TPM must collaborate with engineering, value stream leaders, subcontracts management and operations across multiple business units to support product roadmap development; lead the engineering bid and proposal process; manage day-to-day project execution including scope, schedule, and budget; and effectively communicate project status to leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide support to strategy, business development and value stream leadership in business case development
Develop and maintain product roadmaps
Support the pursuit, order, capture process including proposal development, strategic positioning, and technical approach
Lead the engineering bid process including development of the work breakdown structure, statement of work, specifications, recurring and non-recurring cost targets, and schedules
Change management control, bidding, and project planning
Tracking and forecasting cost, schedule, and staffing needs
Helping to solve complex software and systems problems with a strategic focus for the group
Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the
appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance
Experience in training and mentoring less experienced engineers
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Understanding of Collins products used in traditional avionic systems
History of leading within a team environment and establishing collaborative relationships with co-workers
Consistent superior results, keeping complex projects on schedule and contributing to a positive work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
Experience with DO-178B/C (DAL A or B preferred)
Experience working systems on Pro Line Fusion architectures
Strong understanding of the Agile development processes
Strong understanding of the Change Management processes and tools
