Position Purpose
The Lab Coordinator works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for managing and supporting all science labs for biology, chemistry, and physics courses.
Job Duties
- Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
- Organizes daily/weekly lab schedules and manages set-up and breakdown of laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies as prescribed in each course syllabus. Ensures the lab is prepared prior to the start of class.
- Utilizing personal protective equipment, prepares materials, chemical reagents, and solutions as needed and ensures hazardous materials are stored in compliance with state and local regulations. Manages chemical waste disposal, glass recycling, and biohazard kills using the autoclave and in accordance with state and local regulations.
- Assembles, disassembles, cleans, and stores all lab equipment and other supplies needed for experiments, and removes, collects, and labels chemical waste from classrooms and labs.
- Performs regular maintenance on lab equipment by calibrating equipment and coordinating service as needed.
- Maintains current inventory database of all equipment, supplies, and chemical quantities used in the various labs; maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and instruction manuals.
- Coordinates the purchasing of all science supplies and special equipment.
- Communicates effectively with science instructional staff and students regarding schedules, equipment, and lab safety and enforces a no food no drink policy at all times in lab rooms.
- This position helps support instructional staff as an Academic Assistant/ Substitute as needed.
- Participates in professional development as requested by the Academic Dean or Head of School.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Science or closely related field of study from an accredited institution.
- Two years of science laboratory experience with knowledge of biology and general chemistry.
- Colorado Substitute license preferred.
