Position Summary
Under the direction of the CUIMC Analytics Associate Director, Architecture and Development, the CUIMC Analytics Business Intelligence & Analytics Developer – ICAP role will be active in investigating the analytic needs of ICAP and identifying, developing, and maintaining analytic solutions, including reports, dashboards, and related data extracts, from various institutional data sources including enterprise resource planning (ERP), accounting, human resourcing, clinical information and practice management EHR systems, and others. This individual must be proficient in SQL coding, the use of institutional business intelligence tools, related data models, and best practices for architected data solutions.
This individual works directly with operational, academic, and clinical staff, including senior leadership. In addition to development work, this position requires the individual to review analytic requests, provide status updates, set user expectations, and, generally demonstrate the ability explain technical solutions to others. This individual must possess strong customer service, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, and be team orientated.
Responsibilities
Works with end-users to understand analytic needs, provide guidance on optimal solutions, and translate the operational definitions into application-based written specifications (20%)
Develops, distributes, and provides support for analytic content, including underlying data architecture, in a timely manner, using institutional business intelligence tools, such as Power BI, Cognos, AWS, Data Stage, and other applications, prioritizing multiple requests, and maintaining a support relationship with users. (25%)
Works proficiently with MS SQL Server. (20%)
Researches workflows and various data models in depth; engaging in knowledge transfer exercises with IT application teams and operational experts as needed. (20%)
Maintains knowledge of policies, standards, and best practices, internal and industry-wide, including HIPAA, IRB, and data governance policies and procedures, to ensure all deliverables meet those standards. (10%)
Other duties as required. (5%)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Accounting, or similar discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
Significant experience with accounting systems, such as Microsoft Azure and BC365 and/or PeopleSoft, may substitute for a degree.
Understanding of key accounting principles.
Proficiency in relational database design and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with Microsoft Azure and BC365 and/or PeopleSoft.
Experience with administrative and/or operational data and reporting.
Experience with Power BI, Cognos, and/or other popular BI tools.
Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on communication, detail, and follow-up.
Experience in clinical or research analytic and regulatory reporting.
Experience with scripting languages for data analysis, such as R or python
