POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides strategic direction and oversees the execution of all plans and activities for the design, development, and application of articulated pathways for academic achievement, learning acceleration, and graduation. Ensures all district students, including students with disabilities, limited English proficiency students, and students identified as gifted and talented from pre-school through the completion of high school, have equitable access to all learning pathways, including state and local graduation seals, Advanced Placement courses and International Baccalaureate courses and robust Unified Arts opportunities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned staff. Duties include hiring, training, counseling, and evaluating staff performance.
- Ensures that curriculum design and implementation are done with a holistic approach, so that students find their education more relevant, rewarding, and rigorous.
- Ensures students demonstrate Portrait of a Graduate attributes
- Ensures programming will provide more flexibility, choice, and relevant course offerings for improved student learning experiences.
- Provides direction and oversight in the delivery of articulated pathways to CCS students ensuring learning experiences consistent with the CCS Strategic Plan and CCS Board Goals.
- Develop programmatic frameworks to shape the overall delivery of articulated learning pathways to students.
- Works cooperatively with building leadership and staff to coordinate learning pathways and service delivery to ensure all students receive appropriate educational and support services.
- Provides assistance and consultation to building leadership and staff in developing differentiated lessons for articulated pathway students.
- Ensures departmental staff maintains required credentials and facilitates on-going development opportunities that align with district Strategic Plan and Board of Education Goals.
- Plans and conducts staff training and in-service programs regarding implementation of district articulated pathways initiatives, with emphasis on trends for students with diverse learning needs, best practices, and compliance issues.
- Assists in the identification of available federal and state grants, submission of applicable grant applications, development of programs and alignment of resources, and compliance with recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Assists in the development and modification of departmental policies and procedures; revises departmental work systems and procedures as necessary to comply with federal and state regulations and district requirements.
- Administers assigned budget(s); ensures expenditures are within the approved budget(s).
- Maintains programs records and files.
- Prepares required documentation and reports.
- Maintains current knowledge of best practices, trends, and new developments in instruction for innovative learning practices.
- Maintains current knowledge of state regulations and accountability measures and anticipates and reports on the impact to the district.
- Directs and oversees the administration of assigned budget(s) including federal, state, and local; ensures expenditures are within the approved budgets.
- Approves Accelerated and Extended Learning and Unified Arts related board legislation before submission to Executive Director for approval.
- Ensures that staff maintains required credentials and facilitates on-going professional development opportunities that align with the district Strategic Plan and Board of Education Goals.
- Serves as a resource to district staff, parents, guardians, community agencies and others; effectively communicates district policies, roles & responsibilities with regard to academics and the needs of CCS students.
- Works cooperatively and maintains communication with district administrators, staff, parents, Ohio Department of Education representatives, and others on matters relating to learning and graduation pathways for all students.
- Monitors assigned programs to ensure compliance with related regulatory requirements and district standards.
- Resolves problems, situations, or issues in a collaborative, tactful, courteous and respectful manner.
- Oversees the maintenance of records, files, and databases.
- Prepares and oversees the preparation of required documentation and reports.
- Maintains current knowledge of state and federal mandates related to assigned programs. Recommends changes to academic procedures and processes as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of related teaching and administrative experience including supervisory responsibilities.
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Administrator license or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies related to assigned functions.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills to effectively manage the daily operations and administration of assigned function(s).
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of district staff, students, parents and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentation skills.
- Written and technology necessary to maintain various departmental records, documents and reports.
- Analytical ability to develop plans of action to address a variety of issues and concerns in a timely manner.
- Mathematical aptitude necessary to develop and administer a budget and monitor expenditures.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively serve as a leader and member of a team.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Tools/Equipment Use: Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
- Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)
- Environment: Works in office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
- Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
