PROMPT STAFFING has Direct Support Professional (DSP) openings for $17 / hour.
Position Summary:
This position provides direct, hands-on assistance to individuals for enabling the individual to live and thrive in the community. Duties depend on the individual’s needs and capabilities, and generally include assistance with activities of daily living, socialization, and behavior modification. Assistance to individuals is provided in conformance with the ISP, Behavior Plan, and other team-established and individual-expressed needs and goals for that individual.
Reports To: Program Manager/Administrator
Experience and Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- CPR certification
- Free from communicable diseases
- Valid Indiana drivers license;
- Owns or has access to a vehicle in good working order;
- Current automobile insurance (for vehicles registered in the state of Indiana);
- Clean criminal history and OIG record
- No findings on any aide registry
- Successful completion of Training and Orientation program
Competency/Skill Requirements
- Ability to read and write sufficiently to complete required documentation
- Ability to see and hear sufficiently to provide individual care and ensure safety and well-being of self and individual
- Ability to make reasoned, appropriate decisions in emergency and non- emergency situations
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to use assistive equipment, including Hoyer lift and wheelchairs
Working Environment: Field
Position Physical Requirements:
Position requires the ability to walk, sit, stand; lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds unassisted and 350 pounds with assistance; squat, bend, reach and stretch.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
All Direct Support Professionals are expected to be neat and clean in appearance, conduct themselves in a professional manner, accept supervision and directions from their Program Managers and other superiors, and show up for work on time. Additional expectations are set out in greater detail in the Associate Handbook.
Job Duties – For All Shifts
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living. Certain individuals require total care and the performance of activities of daily living by staff on their behalf (hygiene, ambulation, preparation of meals, ).
- Follow individual’s ISP for activity schedule and goals. If an individual does not have a specific activity schedule set forth in his or her ISP, Residential Service Coordinator shall be responsible for drafting a proposed list of activities for upcoming week and provide this list to the individual’s Program Manager no later than Tuesday of the week prior to the proposed
- Transport individuals as needed, including to local day program(s) on a timely basis.
- Carry out and chart all activities as set out in the Individual Support Plan, Behavior Management Plan and as otherwise needed for general skill
- Assist individuals with appearance and grooming, including appropriate clothing selection and general
- Assist individuals in maintaining their homes, including the provision of oversight, instructions, and encouragement with household chores per a individual’s needs and
- Prepare the home for the next shift (tidying up, completing paperwork, )
- Assist in medication distribution in accordance with medication distribution guidelines or dispense medication to individual as trained and pursuant to the individual’s medication administration
- Complete household chores on behalf of or in cooperation with individuals (e.g., individual’s laundry, cleaning individual’s bathroom, bedroom and other areas of the home used by the individual). General household chores not directly benefiting the individual shall be limited to 20% or less of employee’s hours.
- Make recommendations to the Interdisciplinary Team regarding individual program plan activities, goals, and needs of the
- Work cooperatively with supervisor, fellow employees, individual and individual’s guardian and/or family
- Follow proper sanitation procedures (e.g., disposal of diapers, taking out trash, ensuring that food and/or human waste are properly cleaned up, ).
- Report and document all unusual occurrences, including but not limited to, choking, falling, vomiting, seizures and new or different individual
- Accurately and timely complete all required documentation prior to the end of the shift.
