Summary
As a member of the CHAP Medical Group, provide continuing, comprehensive health wellness, preventive and medical care to entire family regardless of sex, age, or type of problem. Follows established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and other control standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up the x-ray room ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready.
- Greet the patient and enter patient data in the EMR.
- Explain procedure/s, position and immobilize patients correctly, position imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination.
- Observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during the exam. Report abnormal patients’ conditions to the Medical Director
- Competently performs routine diagnostic radiographs requested by the physicians and licensed practitioners(Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Podiatrist) to help diagnose a variety of medical issues.
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
- Review and evaluate the quality of the developed x-rays to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
- Communicate pertinent data regarding medical imaging needs to peers and radiologist accurately and concisely.
- Follows infection control procedures.
- Monitors patient apparatus, e.g., IV, oxygen, etc.
- Transports patients when appropriate.
- Maintains adequate supplies and equipment in assigned area.
- Duplicate images per provider request.
- Send images to the radiologist for interpretation.
- Distribute reports to the ordering providers.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Performs equipment inspection daily to prevent breakdown, e.g. warm-up procedures.
- Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize procedures.
Qualifications
Education
- Graduated from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- California license as Radiology Technologist, Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) required.
- Certified and registered by the national certifying agency/ARRT required.
- Must maintain active CRT and ARRT license and meet continuing education requirements.
- CPR required.
