By joining our Department of Highways, District 7, Project Delivery & Preservation Br II, Danville Section as a GRADUATE ENGINEERING ASSISTANT in Boyle County, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in engineering.
Holders of the GRADUATE ENGINEERING ASSISTANT position will complete tasks such as:
- Performs engineering tasks in design and review of engineering projects in maintenance, traffic, and construction, and evaluates the data thereby collected for conformance with engineering theory and practices.
- Coordinate and assist in overseeing maintenance activities in Anderson, Boyle, and Mercer Counties and assist in preparation of maintenance estimates.
- Prepare, review, and maintain records and reports.
- Oversees portions of small highway projects to analyze data collected to determine that various tasks performed by the contractor conform to approved plans and engineering standards.
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
- Under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer, garner pertinent experience towards Professional Licensure.
- How to document the progression of engineering projects.
- Knowledge of Transportation Engineering principles.
- How to prepare maintenance estimates to be let as construction projects.
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
- Bachelor Degree in Accredited Engineering Program.
- Experience inspecting highway maintenance and construction projects.
- Ability to think critically.
