By joining our Division of Motor Carriers as a Taxpayer Services Specialist II in Franklin County you will have the opportunity to provide direct technical assistance and case resolution to taxpayers on state taxes administered by the Department of Revenue or the Department of Vehicle Regulation.
Performs professional reviews of tax returns for certain purposes, to include, but not limited to, the investigation and compliance of tax returns in the enforcement of tax laws; the examination of tax returns, applications, and related documentation to determine accuracy; and/or the collection of delinquent tax and state government debt; and performs other duties as required.
Holders of the Taxpayer Services Specialist II position will complete tasks such as:

Assist taxpayers with computing and paying tax liabilities, filing timely and/or delinquent returns or paying other penalties associated to their tax account(s).
- Will direct the caller to the appropriate license and/or department based on need.
- Operate various data bases and analyze all information to ensure accuracy for all aspects of tax accounts.
- Corrects and updates information in all necessary data bases in a timely fashion.
- Will assist one (or more) of four project leaders with his/her project which range from collecting taxes from carriers that have run through a weigh station (KATS) to processing amended returns.
- Directly assist taxpayers via phone, fax, e-mail, correspondence or in person with all aspects of their tax account(s).
- Answer questions, complaints and explain the requirements of the various licenses offered by the department.
- Will also take calls from KSP officers and CVE inspectors at the weigh stations and provide accurate information to them in aid of collecting back taxes and penalties.
