Job Duties

The Department of Workforce Development and Advancement (DWDA) is seeking a Registered Apprenticeship Consultant (RAC). This position assists in promoting the Registered Apprenticeship Program by conducting all aspects of the registration process and providing technical assistance to both employers and consultants. Registered Apprenticeship is an employer driven method to hire and train employees through mentorship and on-the-job training, along with related technical instruction relevant to the occupation. As a RAC, this individual will receive on-the-job mentorship and will be expected to complete the Related Technical Instruction.

If a candidate does not meet all the required qualifications as listed under the minimum qualifications to be considered a fully qualified RA Consultant, an Apprentice position may be offered to the most suitable candidate. The selected candidate will be expected to successfully complete a Registered Apprenticeship Apprentice training program and perform the duties as outlined within the Employee Work Profile. Upon successful completion of the training program, the apprentice’s salary will be established within the salary range for a qualified Consultant position. The training will last approximately 18 months, dependent upon the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Territory based locations being considered for this position are:

Central Region – includes Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell, and the City of Lynchburg.
South Central Region – includes Amelia, Brunswick, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward counties. (The daily duty station for these regions will be in the Lynchburg Office)

Crater Region - includes the counties and cities of Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Emporia, Greensville, Hopewell, Petersburg, Prince George, Surry, and Sussex. (The daily duty station for this region will be in the Prince George Office)

Piedmont Region - includes the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, Rappahannock, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and the city of Charlottesville. (The daily duty station for this region will be in the Charlottesville Office)

Northern Virginia Region - Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Falls Church, Loudon, Manassas, and Prince William. (The daily duty station for this region is to be determined)

Salary:
The salary for the Registered Apprenticeship Consultant is as follows:
Central, South Central, Crater, and Piedmont Regions – $59,987
Northern Virginia Region – $65,986

The salary for the Registered Apprenticeship Consultant Apprentice is as follows:
Central, South Central, Crater, and Piedmont Regions – $51,909
Northern Virginia Region – $57,101

Duties and responsibilities:
As a consultant, the incumbent in this position will be responsible for maintaining the quality of the Registered Apprenticeship Program through prompt and efficient customer service to prospective and existing customers. Responsibilities include conducting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) reviews, sponsor Quality Assurance Assessments (QAA), timely responses to customer requests, and prompt, accurate completion of paperwork.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated attention to detail in registration materials and data entry
• Experience in trade shows, campaigns or fundraising, program development, marketing, outreach, and/or promotional campaigns
• Experience managing multiple customers and projects
• Experience with coordinating many components of a service-oriented transaction
• Experience with sales, account management, territory maintenance and expansion, implementing market strategies, or a related field
• Knowledge and/or experience with personal computers and related software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, internet, email-software, and data entry
• Strong effective verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to self-manage, self-motivate, and take responsibility for researching new occupations and opportunities to expand the Registered Apprenticeship program

Additional Considerations

• Certification in marketing, vocational education, business, or a related field
• Verifiable fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish or another language
• Previous employment or experience in some component of a Registered Apprenticeship program

Special Requirements:
The selected candidate must:
• Possess a valid driver’s license or have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
• Possess the ability to occasionally travel overnight.
• Successfully complete a criminal background investigation.
• Successfully serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment if beginning employment as an original hire or re-employment.
