CommScope is looking to bring on a Designer IV to Shakopee, MN.
General Summary
Develops and releases designs and detailed drawings of components and assemblies using CAD software.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Build Assembly Tooling and Prototype/Low Volume Injection Mold designs and solutions to support Research & Development Projects.
- Models product components and assemblies in CAD software following company practice.
- Handles CAD file versions in the CAD database.
- Requests builds of new designs using relevant methods and suppliers.
- Collaborates with Manufacturing Process Development to evaluate form, fit, and function of Assembly Tooling.
- Documents Assembly Tooling and Injection Mold designs in drawings and bills of materials per standards and specifications. May also add detailed dimensions to drawings.
- Collaborates with Design Engineering on Injection Molds to assure materials and designs are meeting relevant specifications.
- Collaborates with Manufacturing Process Development to assure components and assemblies are manufacturable.
- Initiates release of drawings and Tooling/Injection Mold information into the MRP system
- Department
- Develop a high level of proficiency in corporate, business unit, and department quality management system documentation.
- Develop a high level of proficiency in relevant industry standards for fiber optic products.
- Develop a high level of proficiency in CAD software capabilities.
- Develop a high level of proficiency in fiber optic products and applications.
- Develop a high level of proficiency in design practices for the range of parts and assemblies.
- Participate in or help develop process improvement efforts and group training.
Skills required
- Experience with MCAD software and database management
- Experience with prototyping and manufacturing methods
- Familiarity with ERP systems and Bill of Material structure
- Familiarity with drawing and tolerance standards
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team based environment
Helpful Skills/Experience
- Knowledge of CREO CAD software
- Knowledge of SAP
- Knowledge of sheet metal or plastics design and manufacturing techniques
- Experience with the product development process in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with fiber optic products
Associate’s in related curriculum such as CAD w/ 10 Years of Related Experience
