Set-Up/Operate multi axis, numerical control milling machine to mill surfaces of metal castings and stock according to specifications and tooling instructions applying knowledge of machining methods. This position will report to Machine Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Set up jobs by loading program and fixtures into CNC.
- Preparing and operating CNC machines and lathe to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
- Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
- Replaces milling, drilling, boring tools and inserts at specified change points.
- Supervise the machines while they execute the machine cycle and make any necessary adjustments to produce parts to the dimensional standards.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with dimensional requirements to determine if the parts have been machined to the quality standards.
- Uses inspection gages such as verniers, scales, micrometers and pin gages.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
- Knowledge of Mastercam helpful.
- Operate within all safety guidelines.
Required:
- HS diploma. An Associate’s Degree or equivalent two-year college or technical school in CNC programming, machine tool programming. If no technical school, then minimum of 3 years apprentice of hands-on experience CNC operations.
- 3 years of experience or formal training in manual machining.
- Records of formal training preferred.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete flooring all day, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting.
- Ability to lift and move 20 lbs repeatedly, 20-50 lbs occasionally and over 50 lbs seldom. Lift up to 40 lbs overhead occasionally.
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift/carry, push, pull or move tools and equipment.
- Must be able to torque bolts up to 300 ft-lbs using proper tools.
- Must have vision and manual dexterity to manipulate small controls, tools and components.
- Exposed to grinding dust, welding dust, burrs and sharp edges.
- Occasionally operate vibrating and oscillating equipment such as grinders, impact drills, etc.
- As needed, wear protective and safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirator, or hard hats.
Salary : $25 - $30
