POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates the Supportive Employment Program regionwide and determines the eligibility for Supportive Employment, based on the need for ongoing Support Services to obtain and maintain employment for individuals with disabilities.


QUALIFICATIONS: High School Education or equivalent with four (4) years' experience working with individuals. Preference for Bachelor's degree in human services or related field. Must provide own transportation.


SKILL SETS: Communication skills, dependable, consumer service (manages difficult client situations and responds promptly), team player, time management, well organized, work under stress, process verbal and written instructions, ability to problem solve.


PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Visual acuity necessary for transporting individuals. Work is light with walking, standing, sitting, and occasional stooping. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens, biohazardous waste and hazardous waste. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Strength, balance and dexterity required when performing safe physical management techniques with acting out individuals. Frequent talking and hearing when communicating with individuals, families and employers.


JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  1. Monitors referrals to the SE program and ensures each specialist is assigned to work with individuals within their areas.
  2. Conducts team meetings with specialist to explore job leads, discuss individual cases, relay updates through organization, and celebrate successes.
  3. Mentors and/or assign mentor to new specialist to ensure specialists learn the skills necessary to complete their jobs.
  4. Monitors the specialist role and participation with Case Managers, Employers, Vocational Counselors, and other necessary team members.
  5. Communicates regularly with other departmental supervisors to ensure that services are integrated, to problem-solve programmatic issues and to serve as a liaison for employment.
  6. Monitors and develops job opportunities for individuals based on individuals needs to ensure individuals are placed at job sites in a timely and appropriate manner.
  7. Supervises the ongoing daily work routine and monitors job performance for placed individuals providing ongoing follow-up on placement.
  8. Provide educational trainings on Supported Employment within departments of the organizations for interested individuals, families, and staff.
  9. Supervises employees, completes performance evaluations, approves time sheets and appropriate leave.
  10. Interviews and recommends employee personnel actions (hiring, firing, promotions, etc.).
  11. Trains and orients new employees to departmental policies and procedures.
  12. Assists in budgeting process and monitors throughout the year.
  13. Coordinates services and consults with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Department for the Blind and Department for the Hearing Impaired.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Adheres to Communicare, Inc. policies and procedures.
  2. Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
