What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUD Counselor Assistant position at Community Health Alliance?
The SUD Counselor Assistant works with individuals in recovery for substance use disorders through our Sojourner Recovery Services agency. This position monitors residential client activities, observes changes in client behavior, and provides support to the primary SUD Counselors/Clinicians. This position is part of the career path for becoming a SUD Counselor/Clinician position.
Job Duties:
Provide a safe, secure, structured milieu through respectful and consistent enforcement of the established Agency policies, procedures, and residential house rules as guided by SRS Standards of Care.
Act as resource for clients, as example; provide crisis intervention, be an active listener to client.
Assist Primary Clinician in conducting group counseling, group education and complete all required documentation per Agency standard.
Monitor medication to clients.
Co-facilitate groups.
Facilitate appropriate assigned groups.
Within six months of hire: able to document and create CSR’s, perform intakes, co-facilitate EDII groups and shadow individual sessions.
Knowledge & Skills:
Associate’s degree or HS Diploma with a minimum of 3 years of experience
Active Ohio CDCA credential
Willingness to rotate among the locations as needed
