GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position is part of the clinical team. This position is responsible for providing patients with friendly, efficient and timely delivery of Provider prescribed medications that have been verified by the licensed Pharmacist. The Pharmacy Tech I may be trained by Pharmacy Tech II or III.  

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Provides positive impression, through words and tone, to patients, visitors, and employees presenting to the clinic areas. 
  2. Interacts face-to-face with public and staff, actively engaging and finding ways to assist. 
  3. Operates cash register, handling cash and other tenders of payment such as vouchers, debit and credit cards and balance registers.
  4. Promptly answers the telephone, responding to questions and requests, seeking guidance from a Tech II or Tech III, if assistance required. 
  5. Actively stocks new inventory and removes expired inventory from shelves.
  6. Prepares prescriptions for delivery or mail out.
  7. Enters prescriptions into the computer system accurately, screens for program eligibility, and clarifies any issues with prescriber’s office, seeking guidance from Tech II or Tech III as needed. 
  8. Accurately counts, fills and labels prescriptions.
  9. Maintains a clean work environment.
  10. Performs all duties, services and documentation in full compliance with CHC/SEK policies and procedures. 
  11. Performs additional duties, as may be assigned. 
  12. Reports to Pharmacist in Charge and/or Staff Pharmacists.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Pharmacy Tech License 
  3. Nationally Certified by taking/passing the CPhT, preferred 
  4. Computer Literacy and ability to read and comprehend written information. 
  5. Completes all required continuing education.
  6. Problem solving and evaluation abilities. 
  7. Able to communicate with others effectively to convey information.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
  8. Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base. 


WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Computer work is frequent. Good lighting and comfortable temperature of ventilation at all times.
