JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing quality primary health care to patients under the direction of staff Providers and within their scope of practice. In collaboration with staff Providers, conduct assessments and develop and implement a care plan for the patients of OLE Health.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs the following patient care according to clinic protocol and consult with staff Providers as needed; physical evaluations/assessments, wound care, insulin titration, anticoagulant management, catherization, port flushes, and IV insertion and management |
Provides health care education and handouts on a variety of issues |
Administers medications and treatment regimens |
Performs medication reviews, clarify and classify, and submit refill authorizations per protocol |
Refers patients to relevant in-house and community services as appropriate |
Prioritizes patient care throughout the day |
Responds to messages and relay information to patients and other external sources as needed |
Provides acute triage over the phone or with walk in patients |
Directs and coordinate patient care activities of support staff as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act |
Reviews labs and advises patients of results per protocols |
Trains and supervises students as needed |
Assists in the ongoing development and implementation of performance-improvement activities such as quality assurance and peer review |
Documents all appropriate information in the electronic health record system |
Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations |
Performs other duties as assigned |
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Nursing required.
- Current California Registered Nurse License required.
- Must certify and remain current in CPR certification.
- Experience in a community healthcare center preferred.
- Training in motivational interviewing preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; Bilingual (English/Spanish) language preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required; must have ability to work with a diverse population.
- Strong computer and data entry skills required; electronic health record system preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
