What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIMS Clerk, Full-Time position at Community Hospital?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates the completion of patient charts in accordance with hospital standards and in a timely manner.
a. Collect all discharged charts from the nursing stations.
b. Check collected charts against discharge lists, follow up on missing charts, place discharged charts on shelves for processing.
c. Place follow up paper work from previous day’s dismissals on appropriate charts. Maintain EKG file for efficient retrieval as needed for follow up care.
d. Print report of completed electronic signatures and assist with attaching signed reports to original chart.
e. Assist new physicians, students, and allied health staff with orientation to HRIS services.
f. Pull incomplete charts for various physicians and nursing staff. Take incomplete charts to the PACU area and ER for physician completion.
g. Pull charts as requested for Performance Improvement, Risk, etc.
h. Review surgery schedule and pull any of patient’s previous surgery charts for anesthesia review.
i. Request charts from off site storage area.
j. Filing of complete charts. Instructing volunteers on preparation of charts for filing.
k. Order office supplies/distribute.
l. Develops and maintains rapport with physicians, outside agencies and Community Hospital.
m. Scan returned signatures and loose reports
2. Serve as the receptionist for HRIS and assist with Release of Information requests.
a. Assists walk-in and phone customers with Release of Information needs according to established standards and procedures.
b. Print daily reports which indicate previous day’s out and in patient activity; i.e. discharges, admissions, ER patients, surgery schedules, etc. Applies resolution to customer calls based on established standards and procedures.
c. Interprets questions, and provides clarification.
d. Listens and responds to customer service needs with the appropriate level of urgency.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
No educational requirement; one to three years related experience required.
This position's hiring pay range is: $16.00 to $19.20 per hour, depending on education and experience.
Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increases, market adjustments, recognition bonuses and other forms of discretionary compensation may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
