Community Kitchen Job Description

Title: Kitchen Lead

Wage: $12.00/hr. and Above Based on Experience

I. Job Summary

Works to coordinate activities related to the preparation and serving of a weekday evening meal, Monday through Thursday, and a Saturday noon meal. Adheres to all

Community Kitchen Policy and Procedures in food service.

II. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

A. Complies with Federal, State, and local rules and regulations regarding safety and quality standards. Demonstrates knowledge of food sanitation by correctly answering questions, completion of an approved food safety course, or by actions.

B. Prepares the evening meal and Saturday noon meal.

C. Pick up, receive, store, and inventory perishable and nonperishable items bought, donated, or gleaned for the Kitchen.

D. Maintain cleanness of facility.

E. Oversees volunteers.

F. Acts in a professional manner reflecting the mission of The Community Kitchen.

G. Helps maintains a peaceful environment in the facility.

III. Skills Required

A. Able to relate to and work effectively with a wide variety of groups and individuals, as well as clients with diverse needs. Must be able to interpret, follow, and train others in health and safety practices and procedures applicable to The Community

Kitchen.

B. Work with a minimum of supervision and guidance.

C. Must be physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.

D. Must be able to operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, slicers, dishwashers, mixers, etc., and explain proper operation and use to many different volunteers.

E. Must be able to drive company van to pick up food donations.

F. Certified or able to pass food certification course to assure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding health and safety guidelines.

IV. Special Requirements

A. Must possess a valid state driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one.

B. Must have a good driving record and be insurable to drive company vehicle.

C. Pre-Employment physical, drug screen, and background check required.

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
