Position Overview:
The Director of Wellness is responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of programing as it relates to community outreach in the areas of education and wellness. As the leader of outreach efforts, this position oversees opportunities to build relationships with the broader community beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics. The Director of Wellness develops and implements initiatives that increase the visibility and trust of the CMHS brand within our service area.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Establish and implement policies, objectives and procedures for Community Wellness programs/initiatives.
Supervise and evaluate work activities of clinical, technical, clerical and other personnel within the department; including work schedules and assignments. Responsible for managing financial operations including budget planning, authorization of expenditures and fiscal reporting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Plan, organize and coordinate the activities of the Community Memorial Health System (CMHS) community wellness programs in alignment with the organizations strategic plan.
2. Oversee community wellness and education programs including but not limited to HealthAware, the Fitness Center, Speaker Series and educational workshops, and community partner programming.
3. Ensure alignment across community benefit strategies, community education, and programming.
4. Coordinate community wellness activities with CMHS clinical staff and managers as needed.
5. Assist other CMHS departments with the development and implementation of evidence-based programs ensuring that the appropriate evaluation processes are in place.
6. Oversee CMHS’ participation in community events including coordination staff/volunteers, collateral, give away items, etc.
7. Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events and workshops.
8. Collaborate with marketing and development on internal/external partnerships, community service projects, and sponsorship opportunities, as needed.
9. Participate as the community wellness lead on the CMHS community benefit committee.
10. Attend relevant community meetings, participate in relevant councils and CMHS committees.
11. Demonstrate familiarity with the various communities served by CMHS, as well as knowledge of the various healthcare issues affecting these communities.
12. Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field
- Five (5) years of experience planning & implementing outreach healthcare programing
- Current Driver’s License
- Current and ongoing Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that is considered insurable under the CMHS insurance coverages
Preferred:
- Current CA RN License
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Five (5) years related experience in a community-based hospital or healthcare organization
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field
