SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Provide guidance in personal hygiene and maintain client personal hygiene supplies.
- Assists with admissions/intake procedures by providing security and illness/injury intoxication screening.
- Distribute medication and coordinate medical transportation.
- Provide surveillance of client population to prevent disruptive behavior.
- Make hourly rounds inside shelter as well as outside and maintain hourly logs.
- May assist in the preparation and serving of lunch and dinner.
- Record all necessary information including log entries, incident reports, demographic reports and bed rosters.
- Participate in conduct review committee.
- Engage with clients give words of encouragement and inspiration while they are at their lowest point of life.
- Dissolve physical confrontations.
- Supervise activities of client population who are at times intoxicated and potentially violent.
- Risk of exposure to Tuberculosis and other contagious diseases.
- Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Attend mandatory monthly staff meetings.
- Monitors residents showers and smoke breaks.
- Pat down residents when they enter the shelter to maintain the security and safety of the residents and staff.
- Oversee proper documentation is done correctly and effectively during shift, including medication logbook entries, logbook entries, and incident reports.
- To ensure Residential Aides adhere to CRT/McKinney Shelter policies and procedures.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and supervision to all Residential Aides to include: proper documentation in the log book, incident reports, medical log books, bed log, CRC’s , mail log, work schedules and training to all Residential Aides etc.
- Assist Management Team in the revision and update of shelter policies and procedures. Specifically, those affecting RA’s and residents. Present operational issues to the Management team
- Most importantly enforcing McKinney shelter policies and procedures and to strengthen security and safety of all residents and staff.
- Responsible for scheduling and provide direct supervision to RA’s
- Place work orders as needed
- To ensure designated RA’s are entering the data into HMIS.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Distribute mail.
- Accept and catalog donations as they brought to the shelter.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Medication Administration.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Education: High school diploma or Associate’s degree in the human service field required
Minimum Years of Experience: one (1) year of experience in related experience required
Active Certification in good standing: in Non-violent Crisis Intervention, CPR and Community First Aid and Safety license is required
Knowledge of: mental health and substance abuse, have excellent written and oral communication skills and working with the homeless population.
Physical and TB Required: YES - prior to appointment.

Physical Ability: Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate depths. Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, and toxic/poisonous agents.
Salary : $28,300 - $35,900
